Vintage Handmade Star Bowl, Phillippines

This vintage bowl was meticulously hand-carved and polished by the Ifugao community from the island of Luzon in the Philippines. It holds significant cultural importance in the daily lives of the Ifugao people. While most individuals share rice from a communal bowl, esteemed men within the Ifugao society enjoy their meals from intricately carved wooden bowls. Typically round in shape, these bowls are crafted from a cross-section of a tree trunk. The Ifugao wood bowls featuring scalloped edges are known as "Star Bowls."
